A diamond gift can begin with the recipient’s preferred shape and style. These examples from our 2020 feature offer ideas for pendants and rings, with different outlines and colour combinations.
Heart shapes
The original selection included a 1.06 ct fancy yellow diamond for a pendant, with an idea to add two smaller heart-shaped diamonds. It also showed a 1 ct heart described as G/VS2 and a 1.51 ct heart described as F/SI2.
Pear and oval designs
A 1.29 ct pear was described as H/VVS2. Another design paired a 1.5 ct oval described as D/SI1 with two fancy yellow diamonds of 0.70 ct and 0.71 ct. These descriptions belong to the historical examples and should be checked against the relevant reports when assessing any particular item.
Look beyond the carat weight
Compare face-up dimensions, brightness, shape symmetry and the overall design. An oval, pear and heart of the same weight can look quite different. Ask about natural or laboratory-grown origin, colour treatment, condition and reports.
Make the gift personal
Consider what the recipient enjoys wearing, whether a ring size is known and what care the piece needs. Review current availability and prices rather than relying on a past showcase. A thoughtful discussion can help turn an attractive gem into the right gift.
